Sieve the flour into a bowl.
Stir in coconut, sugar and oats.
Cut fat into small pieces and rub into dry ingredients.
Stir in syrup.
Dissolve the bicarbonate of soda in the warm water and add to the other
ingredients.
Press them all together with the hands.
Turn into a greased tin and smooth out.
Bake at 150C (Gas Mark 2) for 35 minutes.
Meanwhile mix lemon juice with sugar to form a paste.
Put on the cake as soon as it comes out of the oven.
Leave to cool before cutting into slices.
